Estonia to screen Iranian 'The Rock'

Hamid Jafari’s short documentary ‘The Rock’ has been scheduled to be screened at the Matsalu International Nature Film Festival in Estonia.

The 25-minute documentary was accepted to go on screen at the 15th edition of the Estonian event.

‘The Rock’ narrates the story of a woman who lives near the South Western city of Ramhormoz.

Every day, she goes to the mountain with a sledgehammer and a crowbar in hand to smash and break the rocks so that she can sell them to provide for her family.

The film has so far been screened at many international film festivals, including Switzerland’s Visions Du Reel, Britain’s Hot Docs, Netherland’s IDFA as well as France’s Silhouette, winning a number of awards.

Established 15 years ago, Matsalu Nature Film Festival has now become one of the renowned and respected festivals in the film world, grabbing more and more attention with every subsequent year.

This edition of the festival is slated to run on September 20-24, 2017.
